Joshua was born and raised in Dublin, Georgia. After completing his education and working for several years in Los Angeles, he returned home to Dublin to practice law with his family. His mother, Emily Kight, now practices residential real estate and probate law (The Kight Law Firm, P.C.), while his father, Billy Kight, serves as county attorney for Laurens County.
In addition to his legal work, Joshua served as executive director of the Downtown Dublin Development Authority from 2013 through 2017 and was elected Chairman of the Board of Directors of the DDA in 2020.
Joshua also serves as Executive Director of the Dublin-Laurens Land Bank, a governmental agency tasked with reducing blight and improving neighborhoods in the City of Dublin.

An alumnus of Laurens Leadership, Joshua has previously served as a board member for several local non-profits including the American Red Cross, Keep Dublin Laurens Beautiful, the Dublin-Laurens Humane Society, and Visit Dublin.
Joshua, his wife, Victoria, and their sons, River, Silas, & Elliot, live outside of Dublin, with their dogs and chickens.
